Privacy Policy

This privacy policy relates to your use of our website, https://wearemelody.com/. The terms of this policy apply in addition to any other privacy terms that might apply to you from time to time (e.g. by virtue of your status as a customer, supplier or employee of ours).

We treat all the personal data provided by you with the utmost care and security. Any details you give will remain confidential and will only be disclosed where lawful – such as where disclosure is made at your request, with your consent or where we are legally obliged to do so.

We reserve the right to make changes to this policy from time to time including as may be necessary or desirable to reflect any changes in: (i) the ways in which we gather and process personal data; data protection legislation or guidance; or (iii) best practice. We will endeavour to notify you of such changes but you are advised to check for an updated version of this policy each time you use our website.

It is important that the personal data we hold about you is accurate and current. Please keep us informed if your personal data changes during your relationship with us.

What personal information do we collect?

We collect information about you when you sign up to our marketing communications, register your interest in working with melody, or give us feedback. We also collect information when you access our website, about your use of the website and how you arrived at it in the first place. This can include data which is processed automatically through our use of cookies (see our cookies policy above), what links or adverts of ours you’ve viewed or clicked on to reach us, or any search terms you’ve used. We can also see which pages of our website have been visited by you and for how long. All this information helps us to tell what content is popular so we can prioritise it.

We don’t process any special categories of personal data, any information about criminal convictions and offences, or any information about children under the age of 13. Please ensure that you do not provide us with any such data using the contact form on the website.

How do we use your information?

We collect information about you to facilitate a specific transaction you have requested and, if you agree, to let you know about content and any of our services that we think may be of interest to you. We may also email you if there is a problem with comments you have posted on our website. If you are not opted into our marketing communications, we use this information to understand the sorts of content you are interested in, to understand our customers better and optimise future campaigns.

We will only use your personal data for the purposes for which we collected it, unless we reasonably consider that we need to use it for another reason and that reason is compatible with the original purpose.

What’s the lawful basis for our use of your information?

Where you have signed up to our mailing list or otherwise consented to receive marketing communications, our lawful basis for processing your personal data will be your consent. You may withdraw that consent at any time by contacting us. You will usually also be given the ability to unsubscribe from different types of emails by following the unsubscribe link displayed at the bottom of the email. The withdrawal of your consent shall not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before withdrawal or the lawfulness of processing based on other lawful grounds as set out below.

For other types of communications, our lawful basis may be different. For example, if we are processing your personal data to provide you with a product or service that you have requested then our lawful basis will be the performance of a contract or our legitimate business interests. We may also process your personal data where to do so is necessary to facilitate compliance with a legal obligation (e.g. to notify you about changes to this policy).

If you have any questions in relation to the lawful basis for any particular processing activity, please Contact Us.

Will you pass my information onto other companies?

Melody complies with its obligations under the Data Protection Act 2018 and the EU General Data Protection Regulations 2018 (GDPR) relating to the holding of personal data. Any details you give will remain confidential and only be disclosed as set out below, or where disclosure is made at your request, with your consent, or where we are legally obliged to do so.

As noted in our privacy policy, we use Google Analytics to provide insight as to the use of our website. However, we do not share any information with Google which can identify you personally.

Where lawful, we may share personal data with our parent company (Simpson Mahoney Parrock Limited) and other group companies and partnered companies (together, “Affiliates”) in order to provide our goods and services to you.

We may also share your personal information with third parties where we are required to do so by law or regulation (such as in connection with an investigation of fraud or other legal enquiry) or in connection with other legal proceedings (including where we believe that your actions violate applicable laws, any terms of use governing our website or any other arrangement between us, or any usage guidelines for specific products or services, or threaten the rights, property, or safety of our Company, our users, or others).
